im confussed the game not made yet but there taking money for ships and stuff
They are using crowdfunding to develop the game rather than selling the rights to a major publisher (like Electronic Arts or Activision). This lets them develop the game the way they want to rather than having to "answer to the suits" as it were.
The ships offered for pledge amounts are a bonus reward for supporters. You will be able to buy the ships with in-game currency when you play once the game is released, so you don't have to spend any money now if you don't want to.
The bonus to supporting the game with the packages (besides getting the ships) is access to the Alpha and Beta testing stages of the game's development. Alpha is rumored to be starting sometime in November with a dogfighting simulator.
About the Game
Think of it as an extended Kickstarter campaign
Bypassing the suits means that the game will be a genuine game and not a rushed version with less features just to grab sales for the beginning months as is the norm.
By the time all MMO suits realize and let developers expand more stuff down the road, it's too late, the majority of gamers has fled either to the lack of content or bugs, or bad service, or because of unpolished game.
Having to rest upon Chris Roberts fame and Grandmastership of the Space Opera genre, and not having to pay any golden boys or girls at all, but to fund only the real project, the game itself has ignited sales. All trust their money directly to the developer, rather than an ignorant spreadsheet suit, that 99% does not know what Wing Commander Saga is, nor has ever played it.
The majority of Wing Commander vets, are now in their 30s 40s 50s, and surely can afford and know by personal experience that it's better to trust Chris Roberts, than EA, SOE, Microsoft to develop such a game.
Alpha starts from August really by releasing the Hangar Module, where you can enter, see all of your fleet inside it.
ok then at this time ill plege $5 sub
