D2 was out in 2000, with the expansion out 2001. I picked up my parents spare copy today (selling Mum's machine - don't need her copy anymore - w00t for me!), and just installed it. Too bad that the USEast Realm is down...

    Grrrrrr

You guys are getting me all worked up over this.

I have the full set and loved it while playing several years back.
Every now and again I get a taste for it and after reading this forum I may just load and play again.

What server are we going for and what level or should we start at the lowest and work our way through.

Are we doing open server, saved characters on your PC on closed, saved characters oin the Battlenet server.

I use USEast, and have closed char's saved on Bnet. Like I said before, I've just started again, so I think I'm level 9...

I noticed Ace is on USWest which is default for Australia and the pacific regions maybe we could all create characters there?

Also the latest patch is 1.11b for expansion and original.

Really? The default when I install is Asia, but I get a horrific ping, so I use USEast. But I can always create a new char on USWest. :d

I notice accounts at BNET only last 90 days if you do not login again the accounts is deleted along with the characters.
I have lost several high level characters this way.

Maybe it's better to create a multi player on your computer which to a degree is a single player character but the maps are refreshed if you restart the game.

In this way we can do Open or TCP games between us toggers.

This will also allow you to level normally on your comp and then online game play when we arrange one.

    Anyone interested in this method.

How do you create one of those exactly? I can't say I ever have, and it might be worth a shot.

Well you just create a single player character.

If you feel like playing by yourself for leveling you can play single player or TCP game which is designed for lan games.

If you feel like playing open BNET you use the same character but host a multi game through BNET.

In this way you get the best of both worlds as you can single play your character/multi lan play/multi open bnet play and you save your character on your own computer so you can back it up and play when ever you want connected to the internet or not.
