Nah, seems really silly to buy a launch console. Wait until we see if there's failure issues like the 360 had, more games, whatever other issues, maybe even a price drop, then I'll decide which console to buy.

Probably will be PS4 though just based on past sony exclusives.

Pre-ordered and I even have enough HDMI inputs on the Home Theatre Receiver to run the PS3 and PS4 without swapping connectors or using a splitter. :) (And for that matter, the X-Bone as well if I want...) I is a happy camper.

I'm deeply saddened by the push towards new machine new content no backward compatibility. I for one am thinking twice on continuing the trend of buying the next gen in favor of playing on my PC.

Watch this space though as I tend to have second thoughts as well.

Never put a Playstation or PS2 disc in my PS3 so backwards compatibility is a bit of a myth for me. Last gen games are just best left in the past - Unless of course that game is Sensible Soccer or FFIX.

Eventually going to be able to download all that stuff for free anyway so no big deal. - I hear what you are saying about playing on a PC but I dunno some games are just meant for console - I just do not see myself sitting at my PC to play Batman or Red Dead Redemption.

Think I might just be stuck in the past with that - PC for these types of games Console for those ones.

Edit: As a side note I still actually have those consoles anyway so I did not need backwards compatibility - To many fecking leads though - One thing I do hate.

Never could understand people not upgrading their old devices. I do this with my mobile. New mobile comes out I want, I sell the old to recoup some of the cost of the new purchase. Same with my console. Traded the PS2 and some of our games into a PS3 with partial backward compatibility. Unfortunately it only lasted 3 years so ended up buying a newer PS3 model and had to buy an older PS2 model to cover the games we still had. Funny though we started rebuying some of the games we loved for the PS2 so ended up with a PS2 revival.

Now here is the clincher. We still have a Nintendo 64 with cartridges. Some of the games on it were so much fun we just couldn't part with it. We still dust it off sometimes for a game of Mario party and Mario Kart.

Some people have the right idea. Keep the older machines, buy the new and try and make sense of the cable problems because sooner or later you just might go back to play that old game you used to like on the older console.

I like 3 titles on release for the PS4 but I still have many games on the PS3 I still need to play. I'm stuck in the middle and not sure which way to go.
