We know that frigate and destroyer would be will be pledgable. The information about Escort carrier is still uncertain.

There may be an argument that the purchase/pledge is beyond individuals but it would serve groups/guild:

Would we be willing to pledge to TOG Fund ?
Would we be willing to write up & agreed on rules/usage?
What ship we would go for?

    Any thoughts ?

Where has it been said that FR's and DD's would be pledgable?

I thought that they have only committed to them being flyable.

You may not even be able to buy one in game and they may have to be captured similar to Carriers.

I won't mind chipping in a bit for ships that are useful for the guild, but maybe too expensive most of us are willing to fork out.

Do note that that since SC will be supporting private servers, some of these fund can be directed to hosting a TOG server.

A private TOG server might be worthy of an entirely new thread (so we don't derail this one). There are certainly positive and negative aspects to having one.

I'd be willing to chip in. But first I'd want details about the ships, and I'd want to be more confident about our eventual player numbers.

For example, if the frigate needs a 20-person crew to operate efficiently, we might need ~50 simultaneous active multiplayer-focused Toggers for it to be worth owning one. Say, 20 for the frigate, 10 for each corvette and ~10 for other assorted escort ships. How feasible are those numbers for us?

Also, can the larger ships land on planets? If not, we might need a 24/7 crew to guard them.

Finally, whoever we designated to buy it would need to be both extremely trustworthy, and able to sit through an entire 24 hour livestream or similar event to maximize their chances of actually buying one. Because if the recent Idris sale is any indication, the next limited capital ships will sell out in about 3 minutes.

If Starwars the old republic and guild wars 2 are an indication of how many toggers will play, you will most likely end up with over a thousand players. Especially with this much activity in the thread and the game is 1 1/2 years out from release.

I will most likely get a pre order deal closer to release.

As for Lti I think you can get hull insurance for a small in game fee if you don't have Lti. Though whether that is real money or game currency who knows.

Yes, insurance will be available in game but it will require renewal and the cover types/levels will vary. Will also be in-game currency I expect.

I do not like the fact that destroyers and frigates are pledgable, hopefully it is a miscommunication.

Nothing is really confirmed yet. I've seen posts from people claiming that they have been told that they will be and others that have said they have been told that the Idris will be the biggest pledgable ship.

As far as I know only Idris is the largest pledgable ship.

I doubt it will be true because the price will be prohibitive and it will be pointless if only few rich folks or guilds can afford which is defeating the purpose of fundraising.

Also, pledgable frigates and destroys is big thing. I doubt they will let the news out so casually.

I could use concierge service for confirmation but not going to waste their time on such things

Frigates in Eve are small ships. Destroyers in Star Trek are the second smallest ship. Have they said these will be Capitol ships?

They need more 1 man and 3-5 man ships. People want to fly themselves most of the time. This means right now everyone will normally be in the current fighters or the freelancer. I think we will fill out more team centered than most.

I honestly see a need for more small to medium ships than capitols. If the frigate or destroyer were a 4 man alternate to the Connie that was more combat specific it would sell like hotcakes. I would even be interested in dropping money on it more than a Connie.

I'd chip in for a larger guild ship but want to know more first. As it has been stated, the person making the purchase would have to be very trustworthy. And what would happen if that person lost interest in the game? would the guild still be able to take it out for a spin?

What about a separate account accessed by guild leaders similar to locked guild bank ? And the access code shared between them and regularly changed.

Also we would need to draw up some memorandum of understanding which would address:

    - access & usage of the ship
    - cost of maintenance
    - spoils of war
    - waiving the rights for compensation (say if you leave the guild)
    etc.

Thanks for the discussion. We will know more in next few months but I think we need to be prepared & decide on principles. If then the general consensus would be that the ship is not worth it that we may not go ahead with it. Similar to pledge / kickstart.

There is little chance that Destroyers or Frigates will be smaller than a Corvette. Though I guess it's possible that the Frigate might be a similar size to the Idris perhalps doing away with the flight deck in favour of more firepower.

The Destroyer should definately be larger.

Crew complements would also be no smaller than the Idris.

Most companies dont allow the sharing of an account like this. But you never know.

You can "hire" npcs and players to run your ships. you can specify friends only. The discussion is mostly talking about his ships, but I believe this would carry over.

I know we're all psyched for this game, and buying ships is the only outlet for that at the moment, but big ships etc should be earned as a group IN game. Doing so would give the guild a purpose and allow people to get to know each other and make friends.

At the moment we don't know who will be the most active players, who will take positions of leadership or even what that structure would be like. We don't even know what sort of in game support there are for guilds yet.

Most of that sort of stuff will only start becoming clear during the dogfighting alpha or later.

In short, getting ahead of ourselves here.
