end of march for small time invites... meh... I'll most likely be too busy, so if I do get a key, I may just give it away.

They say there will be a lot of short (weekend ) tests rather then just one long one.

The new standard. The problem with it is that high level content does not get enough attention most of the time. You end up with great games from 0-20 and not so great games from the on. It's not so bad in sandbox MMO's but in themeparks it sucks. Themeparks are for the most part about gear grinds at high level and if the instances are broken (i.e. TOR) it ruins the enjoyment.

They claim that each test will be testing systems 1 by 1, so test 1 and 2 will be low lvl grind, test 3 and 4 they might give everyone a max lvl toon and say try out the raids and so on.

Holding out hope for this. The first thing I said when I started up Morrowind was "Damn, this game would rock multiplayer."

While my previous post seemed a bit down in reflection, I do really hope this game is a success. I have spent hundreds of hours in this IP in the single player games and love the world. I am just real wary of "weekend" betas and pre-purchases.

Lately the game industry has upped their douchebaggery (if that's not a word it should be). So I am real hesitant to jump onto anything until a trusted reviewer comes out with a review or I play the game myself.

I do agree that weekend betas can help target specific content to test and for stress test purposes. Thing is most of them lately are ways to show off part of a game and limit consumers and reviewers from really diving in to test end game. If they go forward with giving everyone level bumps to test end game stuff than I am not as critical in the idea.

My guess will be they will have a full closed beta sever for the full game and these guys will be under Strict NDA rules, then they will have these small stress/system tests going on at the same time on different servers and these while being under NDA, they want some of this info to leak to help build the hype.
