Dune 2 kinda took over my life
I think I would have to say that it was Leisure Suit Larry 6, I played it through 4 times. After that I would have to say Metal Gear Solid, 1, 2, & 3.
What was the name of the dos game where there were two tanks (which were just rectangles) and you took it in turn shooting each other. You had to set the angle and power of each shot and take into account the wind etc.
That game probably was my first addictive game
M.U.L.E wasted my years from age 4-9.
M.U.L.E. at age 4? You are a prodigy! That isn't exactly the type of game that appeals to a 4 year old!
Good thread topic.
It was either Settlers 1 or Chaos Engine both on the Amiga 500 for both me and my mate.
Exodus; otherwise known as Ultima 3, I played and played that to death along with Wizardry, another series I played over and over.
My all time favorite was and still is Ultima Online and Worms:Armageddon
What about Tetris, the OG of OGs. I don't know why this game is so addictive, but it is.
Guild Wars. Still playing after 4 and a half years.
Bomber Raid and Double Dragon on the Sega Master System
Some that stand out for me ...
IK+ - C64 and Amiga ... I am the ball master!
Tenchu: Stealth Assassins (PS) - I played this so much that I could run every level non stop with stealth kills
Cool Boarders (PS) - I was so addicted to that game that if I stuffed up a trick even 3/4 way through I would restart got to the point where I became angry X_X
Was addicted to EVE for 5 years started playing in 2005 and finally kicked my habit last year, been EVE free for a good 6 months ... Now I have to face the potential of being addicted by Rift
Hrm ... various other ones here and there sometimes I don't realize but I actually get so addicted that I get bored and force play games with no enjoyment it can be depressing!
I was the same with wow, but it's been at least 3 years since I played. Now I get small addictions e.g currently it's now mount & blade warband.
I did the sane with Bioshock so much that I got enjoyment out of it at all.
Defender (video game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think that my grades in my second year at uni were directly attributable to that game.
There was another guy there and between us we could play nearly a whole day on only 20c. At times I can remember walking away after clocking it and having 50+ lives still there for the next person to take over (including the score).
We used to attract a crowd when we played each other.
For me it has to be Elite on the C64 and cannon fodder for the Amiga, they took up far too much of my time
I loved Secret of Mana for the Snes probably because the cartridge I had came with a faulty battery back up unit and I would be continuously be starting from the beginning every three weeks.
Definately Metal Slug 3 on Neo Geo AES, when you pay £200 for an exceedingly good game its hard not to play it all the time
Warcraft one would be my first cause I ditched school for a week to play it lol.
The first game I got addicted to was Privateer from back in the early 90's. Great game.
Privateer was great. I still have my copy laying around, but not drives it will mount into atm
I guess my first addicting game was colossal cave adventure (on a mainframe of course) or Nethack in the mid 80's.
Stunt Car racer on the Amiga was good as was Macrocosmica a bit earlier on the Amstrad.
But I guess one that me and the mates spent a lot of weekends in was doom. We had so many different wads it was not funny and even though we could only have 4 of us playing at a time we took turns and had a blast.
