Good old soundblaster haha.
Doom and the original Resident Evil both had those make you jump moments, but the game that genuinely gave me the creeps was Silent Hill. That's the game that made you turn on the lights in the house to go to the toilet at night.
I have not played Slenderman personally, but I have seen the utube reactions of people that do! I must give that a go!
The original Resident Evil definitely made me jump once or twice. Someone mentioned Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem earlier in the thread and I have to give that a namecheck - I don't think it made me jump but it had a great creepy atmosphere, especially when the hallucinations started.
And on the subject of creepiness, Thief 3's Shalebridge Cradle area, set in a building which was once an orphanage and lunatic asylum stands out too.
Resident Evil on PS1 ..aaah i coudn't play it !!
Going to have to pile on and say system shock.
yeah, the first really scary game for me was also RE on PS1. That game was tension front to back.
Mcgee's Alice was pretty creepy back in the day!
A game called Creature Shock, but it wasn't all that scary, just really really hard. I think when I first played the first Fear game, it was in a dark room and I nearly fell out of my seat when meeting Alma the first time.
There's only been 2 games that scared the living daylights out of me. F.E.A.R. and Amnesia the dark descent.
I don't scare easily though.
The original Silent Hill had me jumping at shadows. And like above F.E.A.R.
Resident Evil. A couple of famous scenes that either involve zombie dogs or a licker are seared into my mind forever. I avoid zombie/horror games since then so there's a lot that I haven't played like Amnesia and even The Last of Us. I was actually never afraid of F.E.A.R., even before it stopped being scary (language). I'm somewhat thankful that I never played Silent Hill though.
Ghosts n Goblins. Yea, I was like 3 ok
I think it's Doom 3 and Fear 1 was scariest game i played when i was little but recently Outlast was pretty scariest game i ever played have anyone played ??
For me it was The 7th Guest. I was young the first time I played it in the dark... Did not know that when you quit the game a voice yells "Come Back!!" Scary.
Another vote for Doom 3
Scared the crap out of me
This wasn't the first game that scared me, but it still scared the bejesus out of me
Fantastic recreation of the movie look and feel in a video game format, by the way. Few games have done that spring to mind.
The Alien Movement turn, where you just hear things and then saw a flash of movement, was brilliant.
YES! Omg, this game freaked me out sufficiently when I was wee lad.
Dark Seed, great choice, also is was sufficiently creepy. Such attention to detail in the graphics of that game.
Goes to prove I think that ultra-realistic graphics aren't necessarily a requirement for an engrossing game, would you agree?
I got to go with F.E.A.R.
Reckon it may have been clive barker's Undying. Seeing the ghost in the mirror and turning around to see nothing freaked me out.. Kind of like when climbing the ladder in FEAR and Alma was standing right there.
The first game where I thought to myself "I think I'll wait for the sun to come up to finish this" would be Project Zero (Fatal Frame in the U.S)
I can relate to the Resident Evil 2 licker coming through the window though as that gave us quite a shock despite crawling over the window in the room before!
