Right. As the title says i'm of the the Stan in August for about a year. Being a contractor i have to sign a NDA or something similar so i don't know what i'm allow to say or not. Needless to say once i know what i can say you'll will be the first to know or not know
George, mate, flip the map over you're reading it backwards again. You want to be going South East dude, south. Not North East. Bloody poms.
Yeah, stay safe! My nephew was stationed there (Army) and it was a happy, happy day when we heard he was coming home.
I went for the day on Saturday. I'm in a place called Tarin Kowt. I should be back there for about a year in a week or so. You should see all the boys toys.
I have seen the type of boys toys you are talking about. You can't fit them in your suitcase for when you come home Stay safe George and keep in touch.
Good to hear from you George. If you'll be back there for a year, does this mean you'll be able to get a little more game time under your belt? Remember, GT5 is coming...
Lots of aussies there (I think). STAY SAFE! Think of all the bad arse moves you've learnt from games and if anyone gets up in your face DO A BARREL ROLL!
I'd love to see a real person do the Battlefield Dolphin Dive. If I saw someone coming across a field doing that, I don't know if I'd be able to shoot them. Keep your head down and come back safe George.
Right i'm off soon. My first trip is one monthish. There is internet there, but i've been told it's not that great so I might not be able to log in
I searched for Tarin Kowt on Google maps, dude, they haven't even mapped the town name yet let alone any streets. How do you find anything without street view? The place looks pretty bleak in satellite photos too, I hope they're just really old photos cause I'm not seeing any pools or strip-malls or sushi bars or much of what I could identify as "life" happening there either. You should start a photo-blog on TOG, I'm kinda fascinated to see and hear about what it's like to live/work in a place like that.
I'm in the army base and have no intention of going outside. It's pretty daunting inside! I can't take any pictures of 99% of whats here, but I'll speak to the chaps in charge (they're the ones with guns) to see what i can write about. We have the internet here (as you can tell) so can still catch up on FB and here. I'm going to bring my PS3 out on my next rotation so i'll see if i can get some on-line stuff happening. Probably mid September. Speak to you all soon George
Right i'm back in Dubai for a week. Have I got a story about traveling on a commercial flight through Afghanistan. The most frightening thing i've ever done!
