Well, it's going alright really. It takes me about 36 hours to get from England to Afghanistan with the trip going:

    1. Leave Wigan drive to Manchester
    2. Fly Manchester to Dubai
    3. Dubai airport to hotel
    4. Night in hotel (catch up with a few UAE friends)
    5. Drive to Figueira
    6. Cargo plane to Pakistan
    7. Re-fuel in Pakistan and pay cash for the fuel!
    8. Arrive in TK Afghanistan
    9. Stay 6 weeks
    10. Complete steps 8 through to 1
    11. Stay in England with the family 2 weeks
I've got some great pictures, but i'll probably post them in the lounge and not the public forum early next year.

    Couple of bad bits:

    • I'm going to miss my daughters 5th birthday
    • I'm also going to spend my 40th over here and not with the family.
I've secured Christmas with the family which was a prerequisite for my involvement as my kids are still well acquainted with Santa Klaus's efforts if you catch my drift.

There a few other things in the pipeline (literally) for next year. I might be going into COD hardcore mode. As always with this sort of stuff over here i have to be frugal with the information.

Well due to this happening, all cargo flights in the region are not allowed to have passengers on. So it looks like i'll be going mil-air in a few weeks. Depending on the day, it might be a black-hawk or a Chinook. I'll post the pictures don't worry :)

We have a few of them over here. The hellfires keep me up all night!

i've been told I will only get on an Apache if i'm injured and then strapped to the wing and in a hostile environment.

I didn't believe them so i found this footage on youtube

Here's a good one. I ordered a 350kVA generator from Kabul. It was in a convoy that had to go through the badlands to get to us.

When it got here it had been shot!

Picture 1 shows the entry wound & picture 2 shows the exit wound.

Luckily it was a though and through (is that the expression?) and didn't hit any vital organs (engine, electrical panel) and only damaged the attenuator cover around it.

You should paint a little purple heart over the hole.

Both pics appear to be the same George. Have you got a shot of the exit wound?

    Stay safe mate.

picture 2 is the exit one. If you can zoom in you will see the metal is convex after the bullet went through it. If you can't i'll take some close ups as it's just outside my office :)
