Have you upgraded your harddrive beyond that which is installed? IGN Article So far I haven't needed to. What would you do. Delete content and stay with the 500GB or upgrade to a bigger drive. Post some comments.
I haven't turned my PS4 on in months, there's nothing to play so no chance of the hard drive getting full anytime soon If it does ever come to that though I'd probably put in an SSD or hybrid to improve load times.
I just wish they would let you hook up an external via USB like Xbox. I've got plenty of docks and spare hard drives. It wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to install the whole disk for games. No real reason to buy the disk anymore if you don't trade your games in.
Yes I found it interesting that you can't do a HD backup. You have to save your game save files through USB or on PSN. Replace and reinstall everything from disks or downloads. That in itself is a way to clean it all up. Alternatively you could keep the 500GB, do the game save backup, go into safe mode and wipe your current HD. Then install only that which you are playing.
I upgraded my HD a month ago. it isnt hard to do but there are a few steps. Here is the IGN link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8K_SpOZuIw
I upgraded the HDD in my PS3 about 2 years ago and that was fantastic. I do intend to upgrade my PS4 hard drive if and when I start to get close to capacity. I install most PS+ games, so I'll get there pretty quick once they start releasing more AAA games, but the current games are tiny.
The good thing about the free PS+ games, you just have to hit purchase when they're free. You can delete and redownload them as many times as you want onto the same console.
