303 was talking about this so I had a look at the game. I didn't actually 'get it'. The main website is woefully lacking detail and the free web page version didn't have any instructions or clues.

None-the-less I tweeted this forum on tognews. Link is in my signature, some good might come of it (the tweet - not the signature).

I know! the website for minecraft is absolutely terrible isn't it? And doesnt the game look awful with it's blocky graphics?

But for depth and sandbox replay value, this game could well be one of the best games I have ever played.

    Indie developers FTW.

Yup - agreed. This doesn't fit ANY of the norms for a decent game - but damn it just works!! :D

Got it yesterday - my girlfriend watched me for three minutes and got her own copy.... very tired now from lack of sleep!!! :p

I was so put off by the website that it took me quite a few weeks before I ended up getting it as well. The video displayed is cool if you understand the workings of the game but in no way introduce the game-play.

I know this game is alpha stage but if you have any websites/youtubes/FAQ/ANYTHING that promotes then you need to put that in a sticky.

Right now I don't even have enough reason to see how much it costs.

This is pretty much what I needed to start:
Crafting - Minepedia - The Minecraft Wiki!

And then some nice youtube video of something crazy someone built in minecraft and you're sold ;)

    Also this is cool: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Redstone_circuits
And this that is using redstone circuits is pretty damn cool in itself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGkkyKZVzug
A 16 bit ALU! When he's done and it's a fully functional 16 bit computer he's going to build a compiler for it!
I dare you to show me another general construction game that lets you implement a computer ;)

Nice links. I couldn't help thinking how that computer guy used his computer to build a ... wait for it ... slower computer. :D

I jest - but it is very clever. I know the blockyness is part of the appeal but it was doing my eyes in. :(
