okay i'm happy to jump in and purchase - i'll pm you guys to dble check before doing and hoepfully a 4th will come along
arrrgh...quick SJ read your PM. I gave you the wrong details...this copy was for my son. I already have one. altho I guess if I get gifted a copy and I have one already I could re-gift it... thats what happened when I got Orange Box and already had HL2 and Ep 1
STOP PRE-LOADING THE GAME! I can't get in the queue to download it with all you people in the way! Eaheaheaheah!
Anyone know how big it is? I know it requires 8gig installed but I'm hoping the download is somewhat compressed. Won't have much quota left after this. Also, here's an image showing how pathetic Australia's broadband is
7gb download from what I've read. No idea if that's accurate, if it's 8gb installed I would have expected it to be a smaller dl, so one of those numbers might be wrong.
"The Steam servers are currently too busy to handle any more preloads of Borderlands. Please try again in a few hours." )=
Pre-load scheduled for off-peak tonight OK, which one of you is pinching the rest of that 2 Mb/s that I'm apparently supposed to be getting.
We got screwed on L4D2, now we've gotten screwed on Borderlands too (see the "borderlands_low_violence.ncf" in your steamapps directory). Add KRudd's Great Internet Firewall of Australia and I'm not a happy camper... (Still looking forward to the game unlocking - pre-load 85% complete - but damn I'm now mad...)
The low violence mode is for the German versions, and there may be a command to enable it like L4D1 has. The "borderlands_low_violence.ncf" file is included with the download regardless of region. We are getting the uncensored version, that's confirmed, plus I saw the 360 version running in store today, no way that was low violence
I hope you're right Chief; there are conflicting reports on some of the fora as to whether that file really is included in the different regions...
For iinet users the preload is available on the 3fl Steam content servers so you can get it without it counting toward your montly allowance.
Yeah it took me the whole of yesterday trying (finally got started at about 1am) to start download with steamwatch running to ensure that it only came from Internode unmetered servers but it was worth it to not take that ~8gb hit to my precious quota
