Ok, so I am looking for a new single player game to hold me over until the release of the next great MMO. I remember playing a game a couple years ago called Undying. It had to be one of the freakiest games I have ever played and it made me jump countless times.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any new(er) games out there that are horror based with the sole purpose of making the player begin crying under their beds. Let me know since I want to play another game like this and I have stockpiled clean underwear.

You might want to try Silent Hill 2. Theres a demo out there somewhere. Try Fileplanet. I tried the demo but it is a port from PS2. So it plays like it control wise.

The Suffering is supposed to be quite good. You could wait up a bit and try Doom3 :)

Well I dont know how "new" of a Horror Game you want to play but you may want to see if you can get a copy of one of my favorite oldies but goodies is Phantasmagoria. Occasionally I break it out of my archived old games and play it. Its a good horror/spooky game to play. Has if I remember correctly 7 disks. It was made by Sierra back in the day. Great game! :)

I haven't played it for longer than an hour but Painkiller had freaky monsters and such in it. Seemed OK

Bonestorm- the game where condemned criminals dig at each other with rusty hooks. U can get it at the Try-N-Save. Not sure how much though.

    my favourite horror games are:
The suffering (it is freeware now, so no excuse not to try it out, may i also add that stan winston did the enemy design on this one)

    System Shock 2

    Dead Space 1 and 2, (i haven't played 3 yet)

Silent Hill (any of them, they are all great)

Resident Evil Series, I only played RE 5 but i totally enjoyed it

Penumbra is also worth checking out

Amnesia, i haven't played it, but i hear it's very good

Well this is all that comes to my head atm, i hope this will tide you over to your next mmo

Well necroing a thread of this topic after a 100 or 1000 years would be much cooler, but i guess the internet is not old enough for that :D

Don't laugh, but Unreal 1 scared the crap out of me. I never played horror or even scary games before, so I install it, started playing in the dark... then stopped playing :D.
