I'm just wondering if I should a) put a pre-order for this one b) wait for critics

Anyone heard anything about this one, so far I know it should be a bit prettier than the PC version, etc, but will the controls work?

This has been the only thing I've been missing, when I went to console gaming. A decent historical flight sim. I used to love the first Warbirds and Sierra's Red Baron II. And so on.

This autumn will be quite special by many means. If this is a decent game, it means a gaming marathon, IL-2, COD MW2, Forza 3. :)

I use a Xbox controller to fly Gunships in BF2142

So flying should be a cinch as long as it is configurable to the pad and what you are comfortable with

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey Hands On - Page 1 // None /// Eurogamer - Games Reviews, News and More

Mecha-Wombat, thanks for the encouraging comment. :) As I don't have experience using a X360 controller with a flight sim. Now it does not feel impossible at all.

Pure Mongrel, same here, we say here "it just jumped from behind a tree", when something surprising happens. This release literally was lurking behind a tree, because I too had no idea about it, until the eurogamer article.

After the Race Pro fiasco, I decided to remain hopeful for this one, but maybe with a one tonne of salt in my back pocket.

Like good previews, - we see it then.
Good developers, - well, we see it then what it is in consoles.

I think with Race Pro, the previewers thought that it was close to launch, but the problems would be solved in the real launch version, or something like that. Those were not solved, it was clearly beta at the official launch, and then what could one think of a sim racer with a very very poor steering wheel support? And so on. Race Pro has some good things, but then ... and but... and but.

I'm hopeful about IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, And I really hope the devs of IL-2 are not making the mistakes SimBin made. I remain hopeful, and we'll see it then. :)

The consoles really need a good flight sim with a great online component.

I have my fingers crossed. :D

    Yes sir we need! :D

I've already seen some people interested in this IL-2 X360 release here, it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Then my wife beginned to play... no not, Peggle, not Tetris, not WoW ... but DiRT!, a rally game. This is getting really interesting.

I think I finally solved how to do the 24h Le Mans in Forza 3. :D

It works :), and it was not too watered down, "realistic" mode felt quite ok for me and then there is "simulation" mode left, but thats maybe after I've learned to fly! :D

It unlocks "realistic" and "simulation" modes after playing through campaigns first mission in "arcade" mode, I tried to change these at the beginning as I wanted to see all modes, so it's possible after first mission. Controls, well, pad seems to work. If I really get into this, maybe a flight stick later.

Not bad at all. I like it, so far. :)

    Uh. Quota.

Well, had to preorder this one and a flight stick. Now just to see what month those arrive. Should be 4.9. here, so I hope...

I fly like an old rook, but maybe those actually do better, because rarely seen a rook having a tailspin. :D

Oh man, if there is a decent flight stick for it (oh and it is a good game) I will be getting both.

For IL-2 yes, about the same time, 4.9.2009. The Bat game has been released here two days ago.

Well, I feel it a bit odd too. Why are those releases delayed there, is it stubborn censors or publishers, or even worse, both?

IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey (XBOX 360 version) got to 86 points today in Metacritic, it's not bad. So might be worth the money.

Still knocking the wood here, what the full game will be: *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* *knock* ... well I think you got the idea. ;)
