Anybody here already using them? I'm gonna be dumping Telstra and going for a 1500/256 plan. Leaning towards the 30 GIG plan as I want to keep my max speed all the way through the limit, unlike the slow throttling of the flatrate plan.

What kind of pings are people getting on COGs?

    Using it, and loving it.

    I started with the PADSL-512-Green.

Gave me 3GB for $79.95 per month.

Then they upgraded me to 4.5GB for no extra cost.

Got an email yesterday, and they upgraded me to 12GB at no extra cost.

They also added a 6GB plan at the same speed. I've swapped to that plan as I don't download much and it saves me $10 per month.

They've also implemented some 512/512 symmetrical DSL plans too for those who are interested in a high upload speed.

Pings to GA are great - I generally have about 50-80 ping when playing a BF ladder match on GA

Cool. I'm waiting for a reply from a guy on the Whirlpool forums that plays Final Fantasy XI. He had a post that claimed it was laggy for him. Want to clarify it first.

I'm in the same boat as derelict. No complaints re Internode. good pings, the new plans they released on 1/12/03 mean I can pay $10 month less for 1.5 gig more. There are a few others in TOG on 'Node and everyone seems happy.

you guys make me jealous

having a choice of ADSL providors is unfair. i just found out that i can't get it for at least the next 12 months as Telstra had the forsight to run from the exchange to the pillar in fibre optic which precludes you from having ADSL. added to that the lack of cable.

oh well back to my 56k, it will probably take 10 minutes to submit this.

Yep. Like Derelict (Brisbane), Pseudo (Vic). Absolutely no problems at all with the 'Node. Very happy with their service. I'm in Sydney, btw.

WOW I am so jealous, I hope it is available in Toowoomba soon. Even though I still have contract time to run with Telstra.

I just checked up it is

Now all I gotta do is see how much contract time I have left :(

I can't believe those prices, what is the best plan, for those that are already running it. There seems to be an array of speeds etc.

And my son isnt here to tell me which one is best

    cheers

thedarf, go and check out Internode's broadband plans.

They've got various download quotas associated to various speeds depending on how much you wan to pay. Quotas are 2GB, 6GB, 12GB and something else like 25GB, and unlimited.

    Speeds are (download/upload) 256/64, 512/128, 1500/256, and a new synchronous DSL with a rate of 512/512.

The only recommendation I can give you is to find out what speed you want, then work out how much you want/intend to download per month. Then go for that plan. Either way I think you'll be paying less than what you are with Telstra.

It would definitely pay off for you to check it out. Internode are currently offering to waive the setup fee ($139, I think) for customers switching to the 'Node from Telstra.

FYI, I am with DART, $100 for unlimited 512 (I average 47 gigs/months over the last 5 months). They also have $90 for 30 gigs.

Whoever you go to, try getting the shortest contract you can, 6 months is the minimum, I think, less than that and you have to pay to leave.

Internode looks fine for less usage, but for $100/24 gigs they offer I prefer my unlimted :) And because I am on 6 months contract, if DART starts stuffing up I can just churn away quickly. They've been very good so far though, they have a forum on whirlpool.

Internode is probably safer if you want to deal with an ISP that is a bit more established.
Note that they also offer free content such as file mirrors and game servers (http://games.internode.on.net/), so you can add that to the DL limit.

Wow! Sounds great ... but unfortunately I'm stuck with a Telstra contract for another year. Big Puddle was the only ADSL around up here when I moved up ... is the Node metropolitan only?

I will be breaking my contract, but because of the plan I'm on the price will be worth it. It should cost me $220 to break.

Internode also have unlimited download plans - on several different speeds.

And, unless they've changed it, the initial contract term with Internode is 3 months. :)

I HAVE broken my contract; it will cost me $150.00. I will save $30.00 a month AND get an extra 3 gig.

So by the time my contract would have expired (6 months) I will be ahead of the game :D

    Goodbye puddle hello Internode

    cheers
