Hi all, I have read the FAQ and understand and appreciate the approach of TOG.

After recently upgrading my machine from a P2 to a P4 3.0GHz and finally buying a broadband connection, I have started playing First Person Shooters again.

As a vehicle simulator nut, the only FPS that appealed to me was BF1942. Hence I hope to join "TOG | Taipan" as this new team starts its rise up the ranks of the Telstra Game Arena Ladder.

I still play a little Diablo II on US West Softcore, so if you want to go adventuring there sometime (especially when Patch 1.10 is eventually released) give me a shout.

My handle is short for "Quantitative" as I am an analytical kind of guy and worked briefly as a Tech stock analyst during the tech crash.

    Cheers

    Keith (Quant)

Hey mate, once Father reads your post he'll promote you to full TOG membership.

With BF1942 either myself or GhostDog can take care of you and drop you into one of the teams (most likely Cobra at this stage).

Where are you from mate? If you're US based you might find the time difference somewhat an issue.

    Vehicle Simulator?

Cars or Flight Sims? Always been a big Flight sim fan myself but it's a very time consuming type of gaming.

BF is a good dose of anti-stress gaming and TOG is a good bunch to enjoy it with so welcome to the team!

    Cheers

    Welcome to TOG mate.

Vehicle sims hey? Well, I guess that with your advanced vehicle skills, you won't be needing to use the special "Elderly" parking spaces around here then! It's probably a good idea, as some of our more advanced bretheren seem to think that nudge-parking is a useful way of getting things done. ;)

I've had a quick look at IL-2 Sturmovik and it does look pretty bloody good.

Oh, fruit juice and bingo nights are Thurday nights at 6:30pm sharp. We usually get rolling around 7:15-7:30pm once every once wanders, rolls, toddles, wobbles, and Zimmer-frames into the hall. :D

    Hi Quant.

Welcome to TOG and BF. Now Father has made you a member, please read the 'BF Information and Stickies' sticky post in the BF private forum to learn a bit about how we work and what we use.

Let us know if you have any questions on anything - plenty of helpful people here.

Is there any particular reason you wanted to join Taipan? (e.g. you know someone in that team, or you think they are better than Viper/Cobra, etc?)..

    Vehicle sims

I use the term vehicle because I like tank sims (M1 Tank Platoon), Plane Sims (F16, Top Gun), Mech Sims (Mechwarrior 1-4, Heavy Gear), Space Sims (Wing Commander, Freelancer), Other sims (Magic Carpet 1 & 2).

Until recently, I had been playing mainly strategy games as I had to give away the vehicle sims when my Pentium 2 got too slow to crawl let alone walk. I ran 3DMark2001 on my old PC and it averaged 5 FPS.

With my brand spanking new P4, I hope to shake the rust off my vehicle skills and kick serious butt!!!!

In BF1942, I can drive a mean jeep, a good tank, average sub, OK ship, an poor plane and crap helicopter.

Look forward to improving all the above by playing with you guys.

Sorry my fault on the location

I updated my location info AFTER Calith asked where I was from.

That info flows back to all my previous posts.

So the commander was sober. :)

    Thanks for the welcome.
