Only 16 hours remaining at time of posting, there are heaps of titles discounted across the Steam catalogue.

Well, Dirt 2 for $10 is a given for any TOGers that don't own it yet. And the Call of Duty pack looks like awesome value.

I will probably get Settlers 7 for the wife. Dawn of Discovery has changed name to Anno 1404 and the Gold edition (including Venice expansion) has disappeared. ???

Looks like this sale will go on for ten days, and in addition there will be extra daily discounts. It's like the Xmas sale... Yule in July.

Yep. I was waiting for Bioshock 2 to come down in price so I just nabbed it at USD29.99, where retail here it still sells for around AUD65.

The game is Anno 1404, but called Dawn of Discovery in (at least) North America - see:

    Terminology - Anno 1404 Wiki

Looking further, it looks like the Summer Sale is regionalised - there are savings on Rockstar games and the Valve Complete Pack in the U.S. but not in Australia; the Dawn of Discovery Gold Edition (incl. Venice) is definitely on the U.S. Steam store.

Yeah, Australian Steam site used to have Dawn of Discovery Gold Edition, but since today it has changed to "Anno 1404" and "Anno 1404: Venice" as two separate purchases. Which makes it more expensive for us Aussies.

On the US server they still have the Dawn of Discoveri Gold edition for sale at $20 with the discount.

Agreed, plus you can pick it up with Grid, for $15. If you pick up DiRT2 a few toggers race on a fairly regular basis on weeknights.

    I hate Valve.

Abusing my desire to only buy games at discounted prices by having hundreds of games on special at the same time. It's reprehensible I tell you.

/runs off to check out the list of all the games on special.

1C Racing pack looks ok if only for a time waster. 6 games for $5US, even if only play once its about a $1AU, just like the arcades.

Well thankfully, nothing much in the daily specials of interest (maybe CS:S just to complete the source set for Gmod). Surprisingly very little in the rest of the sale is calling to me either, so I might get away pretty cheaply.

Typical though, I picked up BloodBowl at EB the other day for $30 on special as I've wanted to try it, and now before I've done anything more than the short tutorial, it's on sale on Steam for $20 US.
Well, with STO on your list you better make sure your dog house has a net connection.

Tip: Buy Crazle a game that (a) she'll like and (b) that's addictive so she won't have time to notice. Works for me. ;)

Are any of today's specials worth buying? I can't say that I am overly excited:

    Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000 - 75%, $1.25
    Alpha Protocol - 33%, $46.89
    Galcon Fusion - 75%, $2.50
    Ghostbusters: The Videogame - 80%, $4.00
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City - 50%, $14.99
Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West - 66%, $5.10
    Resident Evil 5 - 75%, $14.00
Serious Sam HD: Double Pack - 75% (US Only)

Is Lead & Gold any good?

I'm going to give RE5 a go for that price. The reviews seem OK and I need something to tide me over until Starcraft 2 is released on the 27th of July (small shameless plug). ;)

Ghostbusters is so flawed and its such a pity. It ran and looked like crap for me (on a rig well above recommend.)

Episodes from Liberty City is worth it if your PC can run GTA4.

I didn't find the Lost & the Damned to be fantastic but it was still of a decent quality and its fun to ride around on bikes with your posse and blow shite up and its fairly quickish.

The Ballad of Gay Tony is Classic GTA harking back to the good old times of GTA:VC and GTA:SA, possibly the most fun this gen. of Liberty city will offer.
