    Mini Ninjas Demo on Steam

Haven't tried it myself yet, but I saw this game a while ago and it looked very polished, visually anyway.

Definitely a console game by design, but still plays okay on a PC (visuals are great and who can go past the high pitched "Nananana-ninja!" as the enemies attack?!). Like with Assassin's Creed it's taken me a little time to get used to the controls (using keyboard/mouse), but I'm slowly getting there.

Colourful, chaotic martial arts-mixed-with-magic battles that appeals to the little kid in all of us (lots of bright colours, funny sounds, cool martial arts moves/magic, etc.). :)

Only annoying thing for me so far is that ESC (Escape) is listed as the key to use in order to exit some screens (eg., inventory), but if you use it then upon exiting that screen you'll often find yourself at the game's paused menu (as if you had hit ESC during normal gameplay).

Tip - if you have audio during the intro movie and the extras movie, but not during the game itself, download and install the latest OpenAL kit (thanks, Jig!); the standalone demo does this already, the demo available via Steam does not.

My boys, 10 & 11, will love this. They have played Little Fighter2 for the past couple of years and this game will appeal to the inner Ninja :)

My daughters and I have been following this game for a long time too. It looks like a lot of fun and the graphics are really nice. :)

    Try running Steam as admin.

It's not actually a DirectX issue. It is with Steam wanting to preinstall DirectX but not having permissions to.

How did you install Steam in Win 7? By double clicking steam.exe from an old (Vista perhaps) installation or using the proper installer?

Yes it was installed from just from my steam folder clicking on steam.exe

Running as admin did not work but running Unreal Tournament 3 for the first time in steam prompted me to install DirectX OpenAL etc and now Mini Ninja works :)

    Excellent!

I'd never recommend using that method for installing Steam though. Always use the latest installer available from the Steam site. While it is fine for XP, it causes issues in Vista/Win 7 and I think it is due to the need to install the Steam Service.

Im having the opposite effect. I get no audio in game but the movies and intro is fine. I have the steam version.

how do you throw the ninja stars? I couldnt work that feature class usage out. Buy im an old FPS player so not used to power plays, potions et al.

The effect you describe is the same as what unknown said =p

Ninja stars. First if you haven't already, you need to add them to the radial menu for equipment/spells. Open the inventory and select it. Then change to it as you would your spells.

Fun little game. The controls take a bit to get used to, and got a bit annoyed at the camera behaviour at times when nearing walls / barriers, but they're more minor annoyances.
