Does nyone else get a Mirrors Edge feel from this vid?
Yes mate, especially when they burst out of the door onto the rooftop....and I suppose some of the roof "furniture".
I have to say though......as much as I am still looking forward to BF3....I left this video feeling a little underwhelmed. (By the trailer rather than the game I guess)

Apparently when the screen kinda went fuzzy/blurry as the sniper is shooting, is the cover mechanic and will possibly be carried over to the multi player. Imho I think that will stop the run and gun tactics to a certain degree.

Thanks BN. I totally agree....I thought I was the only one and I was going mad . But even the buildings surrounding the hotel roughly match the Hotel flag in Jalalalalalalabad (I just reinstalled BF2 just to have a look).
i am almost sure it is but never saw any jihad jeeps to be sure : )
Love the vid. I'd love to see fire nearby causing the sort of effect on virtual soldiers in MP. I hope that stays. Also some sort of post processing similar to the way ARMA2 does (though you can disable it) that turning quickly causes motion blur.
I'd love BF3 to be a focused squad based tactical shooter with a few dashes of realism. Suppressive fire actually acting like suppressive fire and not just sound effects while you line up a perfect shot under no real pressure. The LAW (?) deafening the squad was quite cool too.
Project Reality, a mod for BF2 introduced very effective suppressing fire effects - check it:
It can easily be implemented, but weather it will, will likely come down to an executive decision. Will it appeal to the mass market or make it too hard? Remember how dumbed down and simplified helo's were in BF2? Not the dev's choice there I'd bet.
Either way, I loved the vid I got wood when the squad mate rolled the LAW along the ground - and yep, the impact was most awesome
I quite like that. I'd be happy enough if it was only for a second or so if you get behind cover and less blurry. Something that allows you to lay suppressive fire and advance on an enemy position without them being able to aim at you with deadly precision. I believe effects like that will help promote working as a team that little bit more.
That sniper sucked.....
Its overpowered the problem with the effects is that everybody starts to run around with a light machine gun to blur your screen and get easy kills.
Fact: realistic FPS sucks
Fact: in a real war you die from one bullet no matter what gun, getting hit by a piece of metal at 2000mph can't be fixed by a bandaid.
Even if you get shot in the leg your are down and out and the rest of the team has to get you to the hospital asap or you die.
Fact:vehicle combat takes place at 2 miles distance most maps arent even half that big, its so far out that the enemy can only be seen thru the optics of the vehicle.
Fact: Most real assault rifles are accurate till 400 yards, this means that you can kill someone all across the map in one shot, and not 20 bullets at 50 yards like ingame.
400 yards is also the combat distance of ground troops so the enemy look like small dots with your naked eye.
Fact:real combat is all about camping, you move to contact go into hiding and then call in air-artillery- or tank support to finnish of the job.

Respawn times are the real killer though.
At least you don't have to worry about lag or crap like bullet time.
That's an understatement. He fired 17 (!!) shots (yea, I counted) in what I assume was an attempt to completely chip away the building's railing in order to get a clear shot at your squad.
Isn't anybody else bothered by the scripting? Eye-candy aside, this video shattered my expectations for the singleplayer mode.
I want to see some multiplayer action!
I've already pre-ordered mine so I'm hoping for BF:BC2 plus.
I too would love to see some multi-player action just to get some feel of what's to come.
