Over the last couple of months I have found my PS3 gets very noisy (FAN) after it has been on for a while. Does anyone know if the internal fans in the system can be replaced or should I just turn the volume up and live with it?

Yer you can replace them with after market fans, just remember opening it up voids your warranty if it still covered. I believe you can even go up to a 19inch fan, rather than the stock 15inch.

Of topic my ps3 makes sounds like a cracking noise, even after it's been turned of for a while.

That cracking noise what you hear is from expanding(while on) and contracting(while off) plastic from the heat, its normal.

Scary none the less for those who worry about their gaming investment.
