A Peak into the Day-to-Day of Design
Here we are in November already! So much has happened this year that we can’t believe we’re almost back to the holiday season.

In case you missed it Brad and Corey just got back from Unite 2016 where a whole new audience was able to take a look at Pantheon for the first time. Many of you reading this letter will already be familiar with some of the areas that were shown in the demo but we bet you haven’t seen the new player model that was shown in-game. And if you have please let us know because that means someone has just upended the whole bean container on the ground and Kilsin’s going to have a field day. You can check out Brad and Corey on stage at Unite 2016 here, or below.

Immediately after Unite CM Jason “Medawky” Bolton had a chat with Senior Designer Corey LeFever. Bending his ear a bit Corey gave Jason an inside look into the day-to-day at Visionary Realms. Not to be outdone, CM Ben “KIlsin” Walters had a chat of his own with Community Member Dullahan.

Join the CM duo as they dig deep on hard-hitting topics like video game design challenges and what class Dullahan plans to roll on server launch. Welcome to the November 2016 Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen Newsletter. Have a click to get started.

    Did You Know...
November 1st Brad and Corey were on stage at the Unite 2016 show in Los Angeles where they were able to show off Pantheon to a whole new audience.

Watch the archive to catch a sneak peek at some new and updated graphics and models.

    Cleric!

    cleric_inv.png

It is the Frail Age of Terminus. After the horrors of the Deicide War, interaction with the Celestials has become virtually unknown. Thus, the Clerics can hardly rely on their Pantheon directly. Instead, they must bind themselves to the ancient directives of their Order, guided by the written wisdom of the Celestials of ages past.
To his core, the Cleric is focused on healing himself and his allies, and in this role he has no equal. But the Cleric can also dramatically enhance the defenses of his allies through the use of powerful signets, potent writs and ethereal armors. Though few in number, Clerics can perform feats of stunning ability once empowered with a measure of their Celestial’s influence. Indeed, for this very reason, certain elder Clerics are mistakenly revered as true Celestials! Because of the Cleric’s searing devotion to the Celestial path, they have evolved the means to turn Undeath and other malignant beings.

    Group Role: Healer, Support

Armor: Heavy Plate Armor, Plate-Woven Raiment

Weaponry: Clerics are schooled in several types of One-Handed Blunt weaponry. Most have discarded the use of staves in order to carry their large tomes into battle, the ancient books bursting with powerful signets, writs and edicts.

Ability Arsenal: The Clerics have mastered the restorative arts of their Order, allowing them to use their many potent healing abilities. Thus empowered, Clerics excel in most forms of healing, including: Self, Target, Group and Raid-oriented abilities. Clerics also have a variety of other healing powers, including: Direct, Heal-Over-Time, and Heal-On-Hit. In addition to healing, Clerics also excel in defensive support using ethereal armors and signet blessings.

    Iconic Ability:
[Manifest: Pillar Shield] - High level Clerics can manifest, place and even carry massive Pillar Shields. These huge, luminous walls of energy form towering, immovable barriers that, for a limited duration, no enemy can pass. But, if desired, the Cleric can choose to sheath his weapon so that he may carry the Pillar Shield short distances to a better position before resuming the fight.

    On The Humans

True power speaks not a word, yet its presence is deafening. The city of Thronefast has been that presence for the Humans for nearly 500 years, and to know their heights of power is to behold the capital, a breathtaking jewel in the light of dawn. The breadth of their influence is glimpsed in the majestic navy, unrivaled on the open waters. Students and masters of nearly every art and discipline, Humans' middle-rung size and strength is perhaps a lone mediocrity, their oft flamboyant pride not withering before kings, ghouls or dragons.

    Of Their Tale
Of all the multitudes scattered across Terminus, no other group has been so defined, aided and threatened by their leaders as the Humans. When first arriving on the continent that became Kingsreach, the frail colony was helpless under a winter so stark it was called "cursed". Only by heavy reliance upon the nearby Elves of Faerthale did they outlasted the tempest. Yet in the thaws of Spring, the Human King Amensol rallied his people to found a city all their own: Havensong. Settled in a forest at the base of the Roan Mountains, the town was a jewel of dedicated effort, born from a people unified by their harrows and trials. That very year, Amensol and his Queen welcomed their firstborn son, Avendyr, as heir, and the fate of the race was aimed to soar.

Yet less than twenty five years later the Humans were facing extinction. Seven years into the Deicide War, the Ravaging Lord of the Revenant permitted one of the Human's former gods, Ossiri, rain down upon Havensong every nightmare of war his armies possessed. The undermanned city endured a three week siege, and King Amensol was cast among the corpses of his soldiers, slain by Ossiri the Betrayer himself. The High Mortal's fury culminated in having every sundered shred of the ruined city carried to the cliffs of Ru'lun and thrown into the churning seas below. The young heir Avendyr spent his first night as king shepherding survivors back to the Silent Sanctum in the belly of the Roans, not stopping for the dawn or to grieve.

When the Deicide War turned in favor of the Sacred Six races, Avendyr gained a broad reputation for battlefront leadership and also for his gift of stirring oration. His famed 'Speech of Souls' is still repeated amongst Humans and Elves, credited with reviving the hearts of the "surviving dead", a reference to the broken hearted victors of the war. With the bold vision of his father, The First King Out of the Sanctum inspired his people with the founding of Thronefast, a coastal seat of power that flourished into the preeminent trade and commerce hub on Terminus. At the time of Avendyr's death in 525 IH, the capital city had no equal in wealth or influence, no peer in beauty or acclaim, and his passing was honored across four continents.

Over 450 years later the Humans are still prospering, though the heritage of sacrifice and service has been exchanged for vice amongst much of the aristocracy. Nevertheless, Amenthiel 'The Lady King', a true blood heir of Avendyr, has shown traits of her ancestor's character and composure. Since the horrifying Catastrophe at Azeris took the life of her husband as well as her predecessor to the throne, Amenthiel's nerve and shrewdness thwarted enemies of a suddenly weakened Thronefast. In a speech shouted to peasant and wellborn alike, Amenthiel set the course of the nation like a steady captain emerging from the clutches of a maelstrom. While the Humans have endured yet another peril, their city glimmers like the ancient crown set upon their fair regent's dauntless brow, for now.

    Wilds End
"This mist-laden land endures as an untamed soul, once neglected in fear by the Humans as ‘the Dead Foot’. Abandoned in the fading night of the Deicide War, Wild’s End hosted a final salvo of skirmishes between the Revenant, the Sacred and the Withered. Who are the Withered, you ask? Perhaps it is discovery you seek, rather than mere words. For in Wild’s End, the present perils are of ancient origin, while the scale of vegetation and wildlife reduces even giants to specks of flesh. Yet from this small perspective, the abundant rebirth of the landscape even further mesmerizes the beholder. From the maze of the Grovegrass, to the Tower Oaks of Sorhiryth... even the insects that swarm about in between are exaggerated hulks. This land was a fitting beast to acquire the Halflings, with their familial culture and accord with nature. Wild’s End, a land no other people found suitable, was the perfect home to a people who could suit any land."

    Hi,

I'm sure there are others like me who are following Pantheon? Wondering what kind of interest there is for this game here. Personally I think it sounds awesome. Just what I'm looking for, an mmo focusing on pve primarily.

For any who have to checked it out go here: Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen
They also have a Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/pantheonmmo/

Have a read up and let me know what you think. I'm yet to put any money towards it but I'm pretty sure I will later in the year.

After doing a search for Pantheon here I noted that Kilsin is a member of TOG who looks to be primarily maintaining the facebook page an is active on the Pantheon forums. Just note that you can sign up as a free player but you wont have access to post on the forum, only to view.

    Cheers

    Thanks Kilsin!

Am looking forward to seeing some more reveals later in the year and to hear when Beta might be happening. I will be looking at financially supporting Pantheon later in the year when a few bills have been squashed!

I continue to check FB and your forum every day for new details!

I liked the Cleric reveal, they sound awesome. Will a cleric that is perhaps more specialised in combat rather than casting be able to use a shield? I see that a cleric can have a tome and weapon, and perhaps that is more for the healer/caster type of cleric?

    Thanks

    You're welcome mate!

There will be a few different specs that you can do and I believe the Cleric will be traditional in the sense that they can wield a weapon/shield or tome/weapon but we will release more on that and other classes as development progresses. :)

    Latest details from Visionary Realms:

Coming to a Twitch Channel Near You

These past few weeks at camp VR have been nothing short of thrilling for us. We are finally at a stage now where we can start showing the game to a few people outside of internal testing and development (don't worry pre-alpha testers, we will have you in soon!) and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Just last week Wolfshead who has acknowledged that he has been critical of the game in the past published an article outlining his recent experiences in game and with Visionary Realms.

Watched the stream and I am really impressed. Very much old school Everquest feeling to it. Pledged a Knight package, looking forward to alpha!

Yea Ranja! Keeping a close eye on this one for sure. :)

I'll pledge later in the year. Now with EQN dying, might see more showing an interest in this one.

Yea probably wise to wait a bit. Was a bit of an impulse buy for me which is out of character, I've never taken part of a kick-starter type thing. I'm willing to take a little risk on this one.

If I had the money to throw at it right now I would! :D

But I have to be patient, so I'll keep an eye on this and help support it by letting others know about it.

I absolutely love the OP mate, very smart looking, nice change indeed!

On the topic of GDC, I can't really go into much detail at all man, the guys are all on their way home or leaving shortly but the overall vibe was very positive, I was assisting in all the demo groups and heard nothing but positive things, the guys did a great job and I hope we will have more to share soon :)
