26 times this cursed rock has spun around the ball of fire that brings life to the coldness of space as I have dwelled upon it. Each revolution brings more wars to fight, demons to banish, and madiens to rescue. By sword and axe, by tank and stealth bomber, I have been vanquished more times then God himself could count, only to rise again for more, and to reap sweet revenge on those who would slay my avatar of greatness. The tools have changed, the eviroment has evolved. From the early days of living the action through text, to piloting a dezien more real then myself, I have prusude this passion. My abode in the state of Wisconsin is a shrine to technology, with 4 computers with 8Ghz of processing power and 1.6TB of space between them, feed the sweet life of the internet through an IV of coaxial copper. To aid myself and those who share the adventure, I manage to portals of information, both Network of Gamers, a LAN in Madison, but supporting all who wish to use its forums, and LANPartyMap.com, a visual guide to finding LAN parties anywhere in the USA.

I don;t think he's read the AUP or FAQ, because he hasn;t mentioned it, so I guess .. advertise. Does he do an australian version?... oh hangon, most of us are married and wouldn;t be allowed to go to all night lan parties any more.....

Minor detonations of electronic vigour negotiate patterns of silicon silently, their blaze illuminates the true cause of your alighting in these our sacred rooms. You come, lay yourself bare before us, copper shining from it's drab plastic sleeve, the turns of earth weary not its strands. To call the tide of mute attention forth, direct its gaze on LAN sites and schemes, your words twist in their own recalcitrant shroud. Spent, you fall upon our sunswept floor and etch the truth of all into the boards:

    "NO CARRIER"

    Sincerely,
    Count "Obfuscation Blues" Basie

I apolgize for not metioning having read the AUP and FAQ. The one line where it says to mention it can get lost in the rest of the details, plus it probably slipped my mind as I tried to come up with something a little more creative and interesting then "Application" or "I want to join."

As for the links, they were mainly put there to show that rather then just sit on my ass playing games and leeching of everyone else's hard work, I actually give something back to the community. I make no money from the LAN I run. The map is brand new and its ad will probably barely cover hosting costs, as its a very rare thing that anyone clicks on ads these days. Besides, I figured some people might actually think it was useful.

And to answer you, addana, no, I do not currently have a Austrailian version yet. There is some complication in that its harder to find geocoding tools for countries that aren't the US. The map runs off latitude and longitute to place the markers, so if I can't get that info I can't place a marker. But fear not, I'll be adding more countries as I go and get it figured out. Its also worth noting that the vast majority of the LANs I have seen are single day events, not all nighters.

That was the plan, though apparantly putting links in there soured the experience for some and doomed me to rejection.

Yep. The Admins are all based in Australia/New Zealand (see, I didn't forget ya, Basie!), so it tends to get a bit quiet around here Admin-wise between 1am-7am AEST.

Plus, it's a work day, so I can't be surfing around this place all day.

    Ok, I can, but I really shouldn't. ;)

    Anyway, welcome to TOG, Captain_Obvious.

I've made you a member, so you should now have access to our member-only forums. Be sure to check out the Lounge forum to meet the real TOG. :)

    Enjoy.

    Welcome Captain Obvious...to TOG.

I think your initial post probably was a bit much at first. LOL

Sorry if anyone chewed ya out..they just didn't get it!

Once you're granted access to the private forums, post a quick note in the BF2 forum called, 'The Hot Spot'...letting us know that you'd like to play with us once in a while. :)

See ya friday at my Mini-lan and hopefully Thursday at midnight for the Serenity showing!! WOOT!
