    CO has one server only.

We've had EU players posting that they've had no lag problems. Whether that's due to server distribution or game design is another question.

If they use a world distribution similar to Guild Wars it could be spread out geographically. I am glad they go for a single world approach; too many worlds and regional restrictions is just a PITA.

Yeah, when you can't play with your friends because of some legal thing, unless you go around and get overseas versions which may not always be 'permitted' in your region. thats just crap!

The single shard is one of the things that has me interested in CO (that and the spandex!!).

While it's nice to have local servers, it's critical for an MMO to have...you know...people. Piling everyone on the same server gets rid of the whole fragmentation issues games like WAR and Pirates of the Burning Sea ran into with folks spread across regions and factions.
