This mod for the original STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl brings the game up to date with changes to the graphics, ai, sounds and bug fixes.

The full list of features and download can be found at STALKER Complete 2009 mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - Mod DB

The graphics are a big improvement over the original and the game didn't crash at all as I played it through. (unlike the original which crashed frequently for me).

A couple of additions I really liked where the sleeping bag and the tool box. The tool box is a one use item that allows you to repair guns or suits in the field. You'll need to patch the game to the latest version before using this mod. There's also a realistic weapon add-on on the download page.

If you enjoy the STALKER games then I'd recommend getting this mod and playing it again.

Have you tried playing on a v1.0006 default multiplayer server with this mod installed?

    Never played it mp.

Just had a quick look and it appears not. When I try to connect to a server I get thrown back to the main menu without any error message.

Would you mind helping me for a minute??
-please load the game and confirm you're running version 1.0006 by looking at the bottom-left of the main menu screen
-select 'Nework games' and look for ned-server and try to join
The server will be up for the evening.

The server is a default STALKER v1.0006. It's not configured yet (in progress).

btw, I'll be running some test nights on it soon if anyone here is interested ??

    Yep I'm running 1.0006.

Same result. Get a connecting to server screen and after 30secs or so get thrown back to the main menu. Even turned of tyhe firewall to make sure it wasn't causing it.

I've just bought Stalker on Steam as it was on sale.
Can anyone confirm that this mod is installable with the Steam version?

I stopped buying digital versions of games because usually they use a form of encryption that modders usually won't bother with, however... I don't know if that is true with STALKER. I do know it is true with Oblivion and I had to go out and get the CD version.

Anyone else had issues installing this?

I immediately get a "Setup could not find your install of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl" message when I click on the exe. :(

I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be because my Steam install (and thus the Stalker files) are on H: drive.

I guess I could download the "manual install" of the mod and see if that gets me any further? (Bang goes another 0.5GB!)

No problems here. I installed it this morning, Steam install and all works really well. Definately smoother than before. Cheers.

lol, seems to be installing fine now....

......seems like the problem might have been that I had never actually run Stalker after downloading it in Steam!

Ran it once, changed the resolution and it has installed the mod now. :)

I purchased the $3.75 bargain and played it once and thought it was pretty crap. Average graphics, poor responsiveness, no weapon :| Died because I didn't have a weapon, and I didn't really know what I was supposed to be doing lol, not a good first experience.

So I will check out this mod, however I assume the version listed on the downloads page(below) is the correct one, and what does it mean by "Read more about Steam installation", read WHAT, WHERE?

Ugggh I answered my own question, I was reluctant to click on the link (at work) thinking it would start the download! Found it here:
STALKER Complete 2009 1.4.2 .exe (recommended) download - Mod DB for anyone interested.

What version would the steam install of stalker have been? Will try at home this weekend.

Cheers for the heads up on this mod,
    Max

As for the game..it is pretty bloody difficult i reckon.

This is an impressive Mod, even just regarding support.

Steam gives you version 1.0005 of STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl.
Have a look at bottom left of main menu screen.

Gee Madmax, sad to hear you had a bad experience playing this game. I found it was the best game to play since HL2 came out! I've never ever had it crash on me, but I have had some gameplay-glitches from time to time but more because I wasn't paying attention in-game... too much running around and not listening :)

The Earl (our son) and I have been playing priboi mod for SOC, but now we know of this mod we'll be downloading it this weekend so thanks for heads-up :)
