Ok so, I know what you're thinking. STO? NO WAY! I thought the same thing a couple of weeks ago but on a 'no current MMO' jonesing fit I gave the game a shot. And I'm very glad I did. If you're a Trekkie and looking for a new game to play, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. After all, it's free! It's one of the better F2P models I've seen out there. Things I love about the game so far: • Very deep character/officer customization (the best I've seen besides APB) • Different systems like Tribble breeding, crafting and assignments • Ship combat is very fun • Ship customization is fun trying out different gear/tactics • PvP is a blast, especially the larger battles Give it a shot and see what you think!
For anyone who's thinking of dropping in, there is a TOG division for STO. http://www.theoldergamers.com/forum/star-trek-online/
I am very pleased to have a lifetime with STO and currently while I can't play every day or even for sure once a week I do try to log in for 15 minutes and set up my Duty Officer Missions. I've managed to level my Engineer from 13 to 21 just doing duty officer missions over about 2-3 weeks.
As a non trekie, I can say this game is good for those who just like space. Its heavily star treck but they did a good job in keeping the missions from feeling silly and repetive like other MMO's. Heck I still miss Star Wars Galaxies but STO is a damn good substitute, heck their ground combat is better then SWG's was lol.
I actually installed STO and played a few hours here and there a couple of weeks back, i have a life time sub to Champions but didnt go a lot of on STO at release, however i have really enjoyed the hours ive spent on it so far.
Yes, also recently returned. Levelling a new character (As so much has changed and been added) and thoroughly enjoying myself. Still In the ToG Fleet, but haven't seen many folk around lately...
