Internode Games Network News: Stargate Worlds - Trailer coming from another world!
This looks like the trailer that played during SG Atlantis last Friday, maybe it was the one on the Stargate Worlds website. I'm itchin' to play as a Jaffa with a sweet tattoo and headpiece, lol.
I signed up for their forums, so as to keep up to date with the goings on. There appears to be a lot of interaction there with people from Cheyenne Mountain. I'm looking forward to some gameplay reels to get an idea of the interface and style.
You can play an Asgard?!
Thanks for the heads up, Oz!
Stargate ftw! I just hope it's going to stay true to the TV show. If not, may an alternate reality Teal'c come to Earth with Apophis and take over Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment.
Trailer looks crap, but the game sounds awesome hope it's better than TabulaRasa
It seems that way at this stage. They haven't really announced exactly what you can play for sure.
Yes it was, but the Aussies haven't seen S4 on telly yet lol, unless of course they have "other" ways to watch it
There are so few Sci-Fi MMO's out there, lets hope they do it right.
From what I hear they're trying to stay pretty loyal to the fanbase. But i guess only time will tell, BRING IT ON BABY!!!
From what I've heard, the combat system will be similar to Tabula Rasa's (skill , not 'twitch' based) ... here's hoping for the best.
For those of us not attuned the these combat systems what is a twitch based system?
"Twitch-based" games would be like an FPS. You use the mouse to aim, etc. Your accuracy determines whether or not you get the kill
From what I've read of Tabula Rasa and Stargate:Worlds, you use the mouse to click on an enemy and then your skill level/attributes/etc. decide whether or not you hit the target.
If I may update your info Revan Tabula Rasa's targeting is a hybrid twitch of sorts. You still need use your mouse to target and can 'lock on' to a target and still hit while moving. Level and attributes don't play any part to hitting the mark.
"twitch-Based" game or not, I am SOO there to play. I have been looking forward to this since I found out how (bad sailor cussing) they are doing on Startrek Online. Stargate is my seconed favoret Sci-Fi show and I am going to enjoy being there from day 1!!!
SGW wont be twicth based, in that there wont be any mouse aiming or firing. It's your typical MMO tab targetting but they (the Devs) are pretty keen on the 'tatcial combat' they're producing. Taking cover will be an important aspect on combat and they say they're moving away from the typical Tank, Helaer, DPS holy trinity.
They're almost certainly in closed beta at the moment, with applications for beta testing to occur over the next couple of months. Current release date is 4th quarter this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if that moves back to early next year.
Oh, and 'Hi' everyone. My first post around these parts.
