Well so far, this game is the exact same as Star Wars Galaxies.

Err, could you clarify this further please mate? I cannot really see how an FPS could even be close to a MMORPG

Yup. That's the reason. I die just as much as I do in SWG.

It was a lame joke, that kind of no longer works now 3 days after the fact. I though I would have been asked about it sooner. :?

Being a SW fan, and quite a player in JO and JA i had to ge this game.

The game graphically is pretty good, and runs quite nicely on the majority of maps (those with los of moving foilage slow me down a bit).

From what i've played the SP side of things is quite fun and cinematic. Vehicles are pretty kick a$$ and provide a world of hurt, gameplay is great and graphics/options are good. Bots are damn stupid though (like bf:v).

The MP is a bit dissapointing though and there is already plans for quite a large patch to fix a lot of these issues up (not uncommon with a lucas arts game). Being able to switch from 1st to 3rd person as infanrty is good, as well as the vehicles, but some vision in the vehicles is hard with no behind view.

The net code blows, i cant get my ping under 250 and it appears to be made for LAN/broadband (im on 128k ISDN). Lag is terrible, although I was on an aussie server with 50+ peeps AND bots . Some maps provide a real imbalance in teams/squad as well, with the imperials and clones seem to have the upper hand in most maps, where the rebels or CIS armies almost always loose. Some of the model animations seem wierd in mp as well (such as the dodge/side roll and the droideka's roll).

Some of the maps are real big, some are quite small, and when you are in say a tie fighter all you are doing is going around in circles, gets a little frustraing.

Once its patched to fix these it should be a real good game - it has a lot of potential and i'll be playing a fair bit of it. I've been booted to desktop playing MP a couple of times as well

haven't got it yet, but I read some reviews suggesting that this was the idea, for example you can't just shoot at AT-ATs, you have to collaborate and fly the snowspeeder and do the cable trick - if you don't, you lose - hence promoting teamplay and collaboration. Then again, the rebels did lose Hoth, didn't they? Who are we to rewrite history? :)

I like the game quite a bit, but agree with most of the issues brought up in this thread. I think that the developers bank on the fact that they can get away with a fair bit of laxness on their end, knowing full well that die-hard SW fans will gobble it up either way, as long as the SW universe/characters are accurately respresented. Let's see what the patch is capable of fixing...

I have the oppurtunity to get a free game, and was leaning toward this one.

So, you guys feel you will be playing this alot?

Getting owned for the whole map by AT-Ats is not too disheartning?

Are you talking about the PC version? I've been reading reports about the Xbox version and a lot of people seem to be very disappointed in it, especially with the MP part of the game

I think I am done with this game.

The game plays almost no sounds when using my headphones and sometimes, there is non at all.

Put the new patch on, and now almost all servers show red (bad ping).

So unless things change, I dont think I will be playing much if at all now.

    A little dissapointed myself.

The format reminds me of the BF series. The star wars is a good feel, but gameplay is seriously lacking.

Ths games are short, maps are not big enough, especially for the air ships, etc.

Darn Oldskool for soundeing like this was the greatest game since sliced bread on TS! :D

Hey I'm still enjoying it, sorry if you dont like it :? The multi-players still has some bugs to be worked out, but overall I really like the game, and I'm still trying to beat the single player on hard :)

    ***Update***

I got the sound to work last night with my headphones. :D

So, if they now make a patch for the last patch that allows me on servers again, I may just be playing a bit. 8)
