I read this in The Courier-Mail and thought it was very worthy. Worthy enough for me to spend the time to transplant the article through to here and let you guys who may have missed it have a read. It's well worth it.

(If anyone feels that this is plagarism, I don't think so because it's pure quoting and what I'm doing is placing this into our TOG scrapbook to file away. However, if you feel that I shouldn't have done so, please let me know and I'll modify/delete the post.)

    Pure gold. :)

Well done to Mr. Nathan Scholz!

Hmm, seems like a lot of trouble for fifty US dollars. I would've just deleted the Nigerian e-mail to begin with. :p

I always found it incredible that people kept falling for this scam. It sounds so improbable - I guess greed over-comes common sense.

Yes, but he was at work, getting paid to send the emails and got paid for the article he wrote in the Courier Mail... which probably got picked up around the world meaning he was paid more for it. Then again... I wonder if he really did write the story or just changed the name for readers in Qld. I wonder if the same story appeared in other papers under different names.

But maybe that's just me being cynical.

However it was a good read no matter where it came from.

I need to get $22 million out of my UK bank accounts (at Lloyds). Unfortunatley I do not have enough cash to make the (over-priced) transfer to my Westpac account. For 40% of the sum involved, I would need $50,000 from my TOG colleagues to facilitate the transfer. Any takers post here.

I'll help you Bob. Those bastards at Lloyd's can be dreadfully hard to deal with can't they. I'll just need $450 to set up the appropriate accounts with a believable initial deposit. 8)

I can actually do it a little cheaper than Helldad, Bob. $350 + $50.00 for incidental costs. Of course this amount can come out of the funds set aside for these transactions. Once I have confirmation of your deposit I will organise an account on your behalf and liase with the banking structures here to facillitate the transfer of funds from my account into a holding facility for access by yourself. Not being to greedy, I think that a 20% share would be sufficient.

Oh, and sorry about the use of the word turd... too much South Park, I guess.

I received this today in my inbox and figured I'd post in this thread. Just a small similarity.

Anyhoo, it's a long read but it's just amazing what lengths people will go to in order to scam others.

Btw, notice the email address: "onlypal123@lycos.com" ... how sad, how very very sad.

Hey I got one today too!

I was going to email him back saying "This is really cool, I've received two of these scam letters in the last week [which I have] with different details in it. I've passed it on to ASIO, they'll LOVE following it up!"

    I haven't yet but I will I think.
