    Hiya Crimson.

I've let the original authors for that graphic work know about this message. It's essentially a template we use, with added gfx for the variations.

I'll let them explain fruther since it's their work. :)

And I'm sure they will chime in, but I know primarily one of our talented Admins created the original graphics for the site, and some of our engineers created the buttons and what not that you see next to our forums. It's all done in house by our highly trained and ver well paid staff of graphic artists...ok well the highly paid isn't true ;)

There are some great tutorials out there. Perhaps one of the best is the Help section in Macromedia Fireworks. It's a very good, step by step tutorial (or at least it used to be prior to adobe buying them - so I don't know about the latest version).

    Hi Crimson,

I made the template for the orbs, and I make the icons for the forum, while At1wit3d uses the template to make the images for the front page news topics.

First, create a simple black circle.

Next, on a new layer, using the previous layer as a selection, do a radial gradient from about two-thirds down to the top of the circle.

Then on another new layer create a white to transparent gradient again using the base black layer as a selection. Once you've done that, transform the layer to shrink it down a bit to give the shine at the top of the orb.

The shadow below it is another copy of the base black circle transformed (squished down) and reduced in opacity.

For the forum images, simply inset an image!

Concur, but I do have to ask; "How is it that we've given you advice with your graphics, yet we aren't considered to be one of the Friends of The Lost Division?" ;)
