No. The game is Single Player only.

The developer is aiming to release a MMORPG version of it in a year or two.

They promised that multiplayer will never be added into Torchlight.

Instead they will release an MMO in a year or so.

Unless something has changed very recently...

Basically they said that if they'd had multiplayer then torchlight would compete against their mmo.

Personally I think it's more due to the sheer amount of balancing multiplayer would require.

The addon is someone in the community attempting to build it in, I suspect it will either fail, or take a bloody long time - there are a lot of subtle side-effects of multiplayer that will be hard to account for without source level access.

Johnny-come-lately, I was looking for a game I could play at work during my lunch. Something that would run on this pathetic Optiplex 330 they put me down in front of. And I installed the demo. With an hour left on the demo I pulled out my wallet and put my money where my left-click-finger was.

This game is solid gold. I hate actually eating at lunch, as this takes away from time I could be kicking in the door- to kill more monsters- to get more loot- to kick in the door...

And then I found Torchleech and the mods!

I used torchleech too. the only mods i was after though were the ferret and the skills buyback potion.

Now if only I could keep enough gold on me to buy the potion.

Well, I originally bought the game directly from Torchlight, but I gave that key to my husband so I could install the Steam version and use the Steam Cloud to play my character at home too. But, at that time, I probably installed- what- 20+ mods? /laugh

Ferret mod, pet transmorgification pots, respec, merchants, fish mash, fairweather enchanting, of the deep, power hour, golem pack, geomancy... By the time I re-installed for Steam and booted it up, my first three Steam achievements were 'Mod Squad,' 'Mod Maniac,' and 'Modpocalypse.' ;)

I'm playing on Hard mode with a Alchemist (who I keep calling an Arcane Engineer) going for a 'Beamer' sort-of build. Although, since I don't have Ember Beam yet, I use lightning. I can still pan it around some! ;)
