So, this game is going to have moddable UI. I see the discussions on the beth forums and articles popping up all over. Does anyone have any experience in UI modding? I am hoping it's not just overlays. I am a fan of mini-maps, and would love it if there is a way to put one in. All we know so far is that there is a compass.
There's never been a mini map in ES just the compass. I like it that way. It will make PVP interesting
When they say UI modding are they talking about all the BS you needed to play wow in some raids? The whole "USE THIS SKILL NOW TO WIN" messages that flash on the screen? Thats something i would like to avoid... As for the mini map.. I dont think we need one? With the handy compass we should be able to get our selfs into enough trouble
That's the wonderful thing abut UI modding. If you like mini-maps, you get to use one. If you don't like them, you don't have to use one. Same goes for all of the other mods and adaptations.
Agree. That said, I'm not a fan of the mods that hold an added advantage such as macro crafting / mining, and best action prompts while in combat. I do like mini mapping that I may tag reference locations. I.e. good mining location. This is under the premise the in game map does not offer such ability.
So far they've said it's UI modding only, I think. No macroing. The reason I like the minimap, is because I do check the map often. Sometimes I may know the direction, but I don't realize there is a body of water or mountain between me and the objective, or I would also like to know how far away it is, without having to open the map window.
I'm of two minds about macros in MMO's they can be good for ease or life and repetitive things like crafting but then games tend to go over bored with them and a good macro'er ( yes I made a new word up ) can get an advantage over other players. With ESO and the limited action bar not sure how much macro's will be of any use really. Even if they say no Macro's in game there is plenty of ways to do it from out side the game with macro mice, keyboards and 3rd party programs.
I am hoping you can mod away some of the radial menus and make them hotkeys instead. I guess we will have to see how much of the UI they let you change.
That's a good one. I love being able to leave my own markers. Last game I did that was Baldur's Gate.
I've never been a fan of UI mods. It inevitably becomes a UI arms race. In order to stay competitive with other people using UI mods, you have to use them too. And soon enough, your screen starts to look like this:
Cromulent, it will never get to that. They are limiting us to 6 abilities at a time, and we can create only two sets of them, depending on only two weapon sets that we can swap between during gameplay.
Can this be dual screened? I like clear activity... A UI mod that covers so many aspects would certainly be a valuable tool though not at the expense of the game itself.
OMG in my heyday as a guild leader in wow raiding i would have had to have a 'talk' to that person.... :w
So did I actually. Just didn't love all the UI mods I had to use. Although my screen wasn't quite as extreme as the one in that screenshot.
