Any links where can I download or buy this game? Do I need any other program to run this game?

The-Underdogs have the first 3 X-Com games on it but if you like the style of play UFO: Aftermath and it's 2 sequels are worth looking into. Missed Aftermath but played Aftershock and Afterlight and both are fun games. Story line is good enough and when playing the third one, you come across things from the 2nd game and ties it in very well.

Theres a boxset called "X-com Collection" try amazon/ebay for it

they gave Terror from the deep/Enemy Unknown a win98 friendly installer, however none of the games in the box like modern hardware very much (dualcore is WAY beyond what they run on :p)

TFTD is on Steam. So is Jagged Alliance 2 if you're looking for a tactical squad command game, though JA2 on Steam is very, very buggy and they probably aren't going to fix it  Valve and Strategy First have been blaming each other over the problems since Oct06 :( You should be able to get it from other places though (I think Strategy First has their own downloader thing?).

The brothers Gollup who worked on the XCOM games went on to make Laser Squad Nemesis which started out as an online subscription game (like WoW, et al) and apparently has had a single player campaign added to it. (The original Laser Squad was the game that became UFO: Enemy Unknown.)

(PS. There is a community effort to try and get the Steam version working.)

ooh, now you are testing me! I think its enemy unknown, then terror from the deep, then apocalypse, then interceptor (flight sim), then enforcer (a kids fps) although email x-com was brill as well.

For all the info a friend of mine runs strategycore.co.uk

There was genesis & alliance as well but they were cancelled before completion. Alliance would have been like Star Wars Republic Commando and Genesis was to be 3d, destructible environment version of the original x-com !

There is rumoured to be a new x-com game under development by the guys who did Freedom Force - irrational games , which would be a dream matchup!

i wouldnt really recommend any of the "inspired" by games. Some of them are ok and you do get a thrill seeing a geoscape screen but imho they all fail to be as good as the original x-com which is how many years old and just leave you longing for a decent remake!

As far as I'm aware, UFO: Enemy Unknown was never re-released as freeware, so downloading it from an 'abandonware' site is technically still piracy.

If it's specifically the original version one is interested in, it may be possible to find the CE or Gold Ed. from some online stores (don't ask me..) or get TFTD from Steam. Personally I never grew as fond of any of the sequels though.

    Free alternatives include:
UFO2000, the closest to the original
    UFO2000

    UFO: Alien Invasion
    UFO: Alien Invasion

A good place to find more about UFO/2k would be XCOMUFO & Xenocide (Powered by Invision Power Board)

I should point out that Steam just released a rather complete collection of X-COM games that you can buy as a bundle. (Ufo Defense, TFTD, Apoc, Interceptor and Enforcer.)

If you hurry (ie in the next few hours) you may still get the new-product 10% discount :)
