Dooms Day'ers all of you. Appreciate what the Xbox One is for, Entertainment. You don't have to buy it, its your choice.

    I really hate the Media 60% B.S 35% commercial's and 5% some truth. :p

Xbox one is a launch day pickup for me. A lot of the bad publicity about used games fee, kinect has to be connected and always online doesn't faze me at all, my 360 now is always online and kinect is always connected. Only difference is that I have to boot it up each time I want to use it. I don't buy used games and I don't borrow/lend games so another plus for me.

As far as the PS4 goes, ill get that when Gran Torismo comes out for it, but I can see the same issues as the X1 with their backlash too. Sony has the PS Eye which will be connected used games will most likely have a fee and will no doubt need to check in with the PSN for validating your games.

Basically it's all going to be like the PC and stream/origin setup, 1 account for 1 game but you can log in with your profile at a mates place and continue to use your products.

No BC doesn't bother me, I already have a 360 and PS3 so they can still be left plugged in and play the old stuff if I choose to do so.

Been thinking about it and the whole registering games to your account thing could be really good.

I mean this is how steam works now, thing is I often buy retail steam keys for AAA titles from other websites like green man gaming or g2play for a fraction of what they would cost to buy in store or even through steam itself. I bypass all regional pricing this way too.

If this becomes possible with console games as well then I'm all for it.

It's been confirmed that it'll be region locked.

I preordered the X1 this morning. I'm not worried about anything that have people spooked or upset about. I could've gone back to PC gaming but the constant upgrading was annoying the absolute crap out of me, but now I'm used to playing in the lounge room and a 60" screen I doubt I'd go back again again

You need to build the PC right in the first place. I've got a 3+ year old CPU with 8GB RAM and the only item I have upgrade in those years is the GPU... and it plays all the latest games great on high settings.

This may be true, but the reason why there is no images of the PS4 available is because they're still having heat/noise/technical issues, and probably haven't sorted out how to make a nice shiny sleek design for it.

Until the consoles are in mass production, everything is open to change.

Neither are day one purchases for me... unless I'm earning vast sums of money or working in the games industry again.

I'm not impressed with either console either. Neither have announced any games I would consider a must buy except FIFA, and I'll get that for my existing console anyway.

    $49.99/year for Live...

already paying $50/mo for internet access...

...thanks, but I'll pass on this glorified media box.

I'm going the other way PS4.

    The Destiny Exclusive Content
    Mates getting it for BF4
    and MGSV

I was won by all those, the price point, region free, FFXIV, FFXV and Kingdom Hearts 3.

I did like dead rising 3 a lot though, looks like a blast.

PS4 for me personally. It's cheaper by a considerable amount, has great games, and does not have the restrictions that XB1 have in terms of second hand game or online requirement.

So let me get this straight:

The Xbox One is going to cost (here in the US) $100 more than the PS4.
The Xbox One has lesser hardware specs than the PS4.
The Xbox One will require an internet connection to play games, restrictions on used games, [strike]and I still don't know yet whether they'll still make you pay a monthly fee for Xbox Live (has this been announced anywhere?).[/strike] EDIT: Looks like Sony will require a PS+ subscription for online multiplayer access, so if Microsoft drops the fee for Live or enables online multiplayer for free, they may have an advantage here The PS4 appears to be status quo on all these points.

Serious question here: why would anyone purchase an Xbox One over a PS4? I don't think the included Kinect, voice commands, or ability to watch television shows is going to be the push that sells the Xbox One over the PS4.

EDIT: and just for a bit of silliness....

Serious answer - the games. For some people the next Halo will be enough to pull them over. For others it will be the new version of Minecraft. Others will prefer Destiny and choose the PS4. To each their own.

The negatives that Xbox has over PS4 including the online requirement and the used game restrictions won't have an actual affect on some games - me included. I am always online, I only buy new games and I never trade them in (what if I want to play them again?!). That said, I don't support the direction they are heading in, so if I buy a console early in the cycle, it would probably be a PS4 based on what I've seen so far.

That said - Halo is what got me to buy my first console. I've played and enjoyed every one since, and I want to keep playing them. I'd suggest I'll end up with both eventually. I bought both the Xbox 360 on day 1 for Oblivion and I got the PS3 at the launch price, though half of that was a gift. For the same ballpark I could buy both of these consoles at launch!

I wonder if we will see Microsoft backflip on either the online requirement or the used games thing?
